Add attempts for assignments and exams (using LTI links)

  • In this article, we will show you how to add attempts for assignments and exams that do not use SpeedGrader
  1. Click Courses on the left hand side, then click All Courses.
    • If you're an admin, make sure you have selected the correct school
      and course within that school.
  2. Select the course you want to work in.
    Click the Assignments tab.

  3. Click the gear icon next to the assignment you want to add an attempt for.
    Then click Edit.

    Click More Options.

  4. Find Submission Requirements.
    Copy the link under External Tool Options.
    Then go back to the Assignments tab.

  5. Click the gear icon next to the assignment you want to add an attempt for.
    Then click Duplicate.

    Then click the gear icon next to the duplicate assignment.
    Click Edit.

    Rename the assignment.
    Then click More Options.

    Find Submission Requirements.
    Then paste the link under External Tool Options.

    Find Assign to.
    If you want the attempt to only apply to certain students, click the x next to Everyone.

    If you're assigning the attempt to specific students, type their names under Assign to.
    Click Save & Publish.

  6. Select the Modules tab.
    Click the + button next to the module you want to add the attempt under.

    Select the created attempt.
    Then click Add item.

  7. Click the gear icon next to the module you are adding the attempt to.
    Click Edit.

    Click + Add requirement.

    Select the assignment and what must be done for the assignment from the drop down.
    Then click Update Module.

    Note

    After a student completes the additional attempt, you will need to exempt them from the first attempt. To learn how to exempt students, go here.
